Postural assessment is used to analyse your static posture and alignment.

Sitting at desks for longer, on mobile phones, doing repetitive work movements or lifting incorrectly at the gym, we all get imbalances within our body’s.

There are various ways of helping the body to remember what is correct posture alignment for your body.

If we leave the problem for long enough the body adapts to the new position and this is where muscles start to become tight and over stretched. When this happens your movement, pattern changes and you may lose some ability to do everyday activities.

Postural Assessment

Explained

A postural assessment can also be known as a postural analysis or alignment assessment, this is an observational assessment that is carried out as the first step of a full physical assessment. Postural assessment is used to analyse your static posture and alignment. Performing a postural assessment allows you to look at your body’s alignment, assess how the body is moving and functioning, look at how the muscles and joints are working together or being resisted in any way. This means looking for any abnormalities and/or imbalances that may be present. This will show how you are being affected through your body movements and functions.
